The IFIH1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB24868) is a crucial tool for researchers studying the IFIH1 gene, which encodes the MDA5 (melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5) protein involved in immune response regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.IFIH1 is a key player in the innate immune response against viral infections, functioning as a pattern recognition receptor that detects viral nucleic acids.
Dysregulation of IFIH1 has been implicated in autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and systemic lupus erythematosus. The IFIH1 Polyclonal Antibody allows for the detection and analysis of IFIH1 protein levels in various cell types, offering valuable insights into immune system function and the development of potential therapies targeting viral infections and autoimmune conditions.

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene encodes a DEAD box protein that is upregulated in response to treatment with beta-interferon and a protein kinase C-activating compound, mezerein. Irreversible reprogramming of melanomas can be achieved by treatment with both these agents; treatment with either agent alone only achieves reversible differentiation. Genetic variation in this gene is associated with diabetes mellitus insulin-dependent type 19.
