UBX Domain Protein 2B (UBXN2B) is a 331 amino acid protein which comprises one UBX domain and one SEP domain. UBXN2B is essential for ER and Golgi biogenesis and also takes a place in their maintenance during interphase, as well as their reassembly at the end of mitosis. Through interaction with VCP, UBXN2B forms a complex that has membrane fusion activity.
UBXN2B Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 354 amino acids (1-331) and having a molecular mass of 39.5 kDa. UBXN2B is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | UBXN2B: Adapter protein required for Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum biogenesis. Involved in Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum maintenance during interphase and in their reassembly at the end of mitosis. The complex formed with VCP has membrane fusion activity; membrane fusion activity requires USO1-GOLGA2 tethering and BET1L. VCPIP1 is also required, but not its deubiquitinating activity. Belongs to the NSFL1C family.Protein type: Adaptor/scaffold; Endoplasmic reticulumChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q12.1Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; endoplasmic reticulum; cytosol; nucleusMolecular Function: ubiquitin binding; protein phosphatase type 1 regulator activityBiological Process: proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; regulation of catalytic activity; nuclear envelope reassembly; Golgi organization and biogenesis; autophagic vacuole formation |
