Renalase (RNLS) is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-dependent amine oxidase which is secreted into the blood from the kidney. RNLS acts as a hormone which metabolizes circulating catecholamines that have an active role in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. High catecholamine concentration activates plasma RNLS and promotes its secretion and synthesis.
RNLS Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single polypeptide chain containing 349 amino acids (18-342) and having a molecular mass of 38.8 kDa.RNLS is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | RENALASE: Probable FAD-dependent amine oxidase secreted by the kidney, which circulates in blood and modulates cardiac function and systemic blood pressure. Degrades catecholamines such as dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine in vitro. Lowers blood pressure in vivo by decreasing cardiac contractility and heart rate and preventing a compensatory increase in peripheral vascular tone, suggesting a causal link to the increased plasma catecholamine and heightened cardiovascular risk. High concentrations of catecholamines activate plasma renalase and promotes its secretion and synthesis. According to PubMed:17385068, is unlikely that renalase has physiologically relevant catecholamine-oxidizing activity. Belongs to the renalase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
