RGS19 is a member of RGS (regulator of G protein signaling) family and negatively regulates G protein coupled receptor signaling. RGS19 protein specifically cooperates with heterotrimeric GTP-binding protein G alpha i3 (GAI3).
RGS19 produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing237 amino acids (1-217a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 26.7kDa.RGS19 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | RGS19: inhibits signal transduction by increasing the GTPase activity of g protein alpha subunits thereby driving them into their inactive GDP-bound form. Binds to G-alpha subfamily 1 members, with the order G(I)a3 > G(I)a1 > G(O)a >> G(Z)a/G(I)a2. Activity on G(Z)-alpha is inhibited by phosphorylation and palmitoylation of the G-protein. |

NCBI Summary: | G proteins mediate a number of cellular processes. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the RGS (regulators of G-protein signaling) family and specifically interacts with G protein, GAI3. This protein is a guanosine triphosphatase-activating protein that functions to down-regulate Galpha i/Galpha q-linked signaling. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein isoform have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
