Leucine Aminopeptidase 3 also known as LAP3 is a member of the peptidaseM17 family. LAP3 is implicated in the processing as well as regular turnover ofintracellular proteins. LAP3 catalyzes the removal of unsubstituted N-terminalamino acids from different peptides. LAP3is responsible of releasing an N-terminal amino acid, Xaa-|-Yaa-, in which Xaais preferably Leu, but could be other amino acids including Pro although notArg or Lys, and Yaa may be Pro. Amino acid amides and methyl esters are as wellreadily hydrolyzed; however rates on arylamides are exceedingly low.
LAP3 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 539 amino acids (1-519 a.a) andhaving a molecular mass of 58.3kDa.LAP3 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | LAP3: Presumably involved in the processing and regular turnover of intracellular proteins. Catalyzes the removal of unsubstituted N-terminal amino acids from various peptides. Belongs to the peptidase M17 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation. |
