LanC Lantibiotic Synthetase Component C-Like 1 (LANCL1) belongs to the LanC family although formerly considered a part of the G-proteincoupled receptor superfamily. LANCL1 takes part in the biosynthesis of antimicrobial peptides. LANCL1 functions as a peptide-modifying enzyme component in eukaryotic cells. LANCL1 participates in EPS8 signaling and binds glutathione.
LANCL1 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 422 amino acids (1-399a.a) and having a molecular mass of 47.7kDa. LANCL1 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | LANCL1: May play a role in EPS8 signaling. Binds glutathion. Belongs to the LanC-like protein family.Protein type: Receptor, misc.Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q34Cellular Component: integral to plasma membraneMolecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; glutathione binding; low-density lipoprotein receptor binding; protein binding; SH3 domain binding; zinc ion bindingBiological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a loosely associated peripheral membrane protein related to the LanC family of bacterial membrane-associated proteins involved in the biosynthesis of antimicrobial peptides. This protein may play a role as a peptide-modifying enzyme component in eukaryotic cells. Previously considered a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily, this protein is now in the LanC family. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2008] |
