HOXB13 is a transcription factor and a member of the homeobox gene family which are extremely conserved in vertebrates and vital for vertebrate embryonic development. HOXB13 is involved in fetal skin development and cutaneous regeneration. In mice, a similar gene displayed temporal and spatial colinearity in the main body axis of the embryo, however it was not expressed in the secondary axes, implying that it has a roles in body patterning along the axis.
HOXB13 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 307 amino acids (1-284 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 33.1kDa.HOXB13 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | HOXB13: Sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. Belongs to the Abd-B homeobox family. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Transcription factor; DNA-binding Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm Biological Process: angiogenesis; epidermis development; response to wounding |
NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a transcription factor that belongs to the homeobox gene family. Genes of this family are highly conserved among vertebrates and essential for vertebrate embryonic development. This gene has been implicated to play a role in fetal skin development and cutaneous regeneration. In mice, a similar gene was shown to exhibit temporal and spatial colinearity in the main body axis of the embryo, but was not expressed in the secondary axes, which suggests functions in body patterning along the axis. This gene and other HOXB genes form a gene cluster at chromosome the 17q21-22 region. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
