Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoprotein A/B(HNRNPAB) is a member of the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneousnuclear ribonucleoproteins(hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are produced by RNA polymerase II and are components oftheheterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) complexes. They are linked with pre-mRNAsin the nucleus and seem to influence pre-mRNA processing and further aspects ofmRNA metabolism and transport. Whereas all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem toshuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinctnucleic acid binding properties. HNRNPAB, which binds to one of the componentsof the multiprotein editosomecomplex, has two repeats of quasi-RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains that bindto RNAs. Among the diseases associated with HNRNPABare wells syndrome, and cystic fibrosis.
HNRNPAB Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 308 amino acids (1-285 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 33kDa.HNRNPAB is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | hnRNP A/B: a single-stranded RNA binding protein with two RNA-recognition (RRM) domains. Has a high affinity for G- rich and U-rich regions of hnRNA. Also binds to APOB mRNA transcripts around the RNA editing site. Interacts with APOBEC1. Observed in a mRNP granule complex, at least composed of ACTB, ACTN4, DHX9, ERG, HNRNPA1, HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, HNRNPD, HNRNPL, HNRNPR, HNRNPU, HSPA1, HSPA8, IGF2BP1, ILF2, ILF3, NCBP1, NCL, PABPC1, PABPC4, PABPN1, RPLP0, RPS3, RPS3A, RPS4X, RPS8, RPS9, SYNCRIP, TROVE2, YBX1 and untranslated mRNAs. A member of the RNA recognition motif (RRM) family. Four isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are produced by RNA polymerase II and are components of the heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) complexes. They are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene, which binds to one of the components of the multiprotein editosome complex, has two repeats of quasi-RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains that bind to RNAs. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
