Heme Binding Protein 1 (HEBP1) is an intracellular tetrapyrrole-binding protein. HEBP1 is comprised of a natural chemoattractant peptide of 21 amino acids at the N-terminus, which is a natural ligand for formyl peptide receptor-like receptor 2 (FPRL2) and stimulates calcium mobilization and chemotaxis in monocytes and dendritic cells.
HEBP1 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 212 amino acids (1-189 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 23.5kDa.HEBP1 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | HEBP1: May bind free porphyrinogens that may be present in the cell and thus facilitate removal of these potentially toxic compound. Binds with a high affinity to one molecule of heme or porphyrins. It binds metalloporphyrins, free porphyrins and N- methylprotoporphyrin with similar affinities. Belongs to the HEBP family. |

NCBI Summary: | The full-length protein encoded by this gene is an intracellular tetrapyrrole-binding protein. This protein includes a natural chemoattractant peptide of 21 amino acids at the N-terminus, which is a natural ligand for formyl peptide receptor-like receptor 2 (FPRL2) and promotes calcium mobilization and chemotaxis in monocytes and dendritic cells.
