GNAQ, also known as Guanine nucleotide-binding protein belong to the G-alphafamily. Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved asmodulators or transducers in a variety of transmembrane signaling systems. GNAQregulates B-cell selection and survival and is essential in order to preventB-cell-dependent autoimmunity. GNAQ also regulates chemotaxis of BM-derived neutrophilsand dendritic cells, in vitro. GNAQ is an alpha subunit in the Gq class, couples a seven-transmembrane domain receptor to activation ofphospolipase C-beta. Mutations at this locus have been connectedwith problems in platelet activation and aggregation. A related pseudogene toGNAQ exists on chromosome 2.
GNAQ Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 382 amino acids (1-359 a.a) andhaving a molecular mass of 44.5kDa.GNAQ is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | G-alpha(q): a guanine nucleotide-binding protein of the G12 class of G-alpha proteins. Agonist binding to Gq-coupled receptors may block Akt activation via the release of active G-alpha(q) subunits that inhibit phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. Heterotrimeric G proteins are composed of 3 units; alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha chain contains the guanine nucleotide binding site. |

NCBI Summary: | This locus encodes a guanine nucleotide-binding protein. The encoded protein, an alpha subunit in the Gq class, couples a seven-transmembrane domain receptor to activation of phospolipase C-beta. Mutations at this locus have been associated with problems in platelet activation and aggregation. A related pseudogene exists on chromosome 2.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010] |
