FAM3C is a member of the FAM3 family and holds a GG domain. Pancreatic cancer-derived cells demonstrate a difference in expression of this protein. FAM3C is a downstream target gene for the Nkx5-1 transcription factor, and there for takes part in cell differentiation and proliferation through inner ear embryogenesis. In addition, FAM3C has a role in retinal laminar formation and promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition.
FAM3C Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 224 amino acids (25-227) and having a molecular mass of 24.5 kDa.FAM3C is fused to a 21 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | FAM3C: May be involved in retinal laminar formation. Promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Belongs to the FAM3 family. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q31 Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; cytoplasmic membrane-bound vesicle; extracellular region Molecular Function:cytokine activity Biological Process: multicellular organismal development |
NCBI Summary: | This gene is a member of the family with sequence similarity 3 (FAM3) family and encodes a secreted protein with a GG domain. A change in expression of this protein has been noted in pancreatic cancer-derived cells. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010] |
