Eukaryotictranslation initiation factor 3, subunit I (EIF3I) is part of the eukaryotictranslation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, which is essential fornumerous steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. The eIF-3 complex linkswith the 40S ribosome and facilitates the recruitment of eIF-1, eIF-1A, eIF-2:GTP: methionyl-tRNAi and eIF-5 to form the 43S pre-initiation complex (43SPIC). The eIF-3 complex stimulates mRNA recruitment to the 43S PIC and scanningof the mRNA for AUG recognition. The eIF-3 complex is also essential fordisassembly and recycling of post-termination ribosomal complexes andsubsequently prevents premature joining of the 40S and 60S ribosomal subunitsprior to initiation. Among the diseases associated with EIF3I are clonorchiasis,and tonsillitis.
EIF3I Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 348 amino acids (1-325aa) and having a molecular mass of 38.9kDa.EIF3I is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
