DNAL4 is a member of the dynein light chain family. DNAL4 is a component of the dynein motor complex in cells that converts the chemical energy contained in ATP into the mechanical energy of movement. Dynein transports various cellular cargos by moving the length of cytoskeletal microtubules towards the minus-end of the microtubule, which is typically oriented towards the cell center.
DNAL4 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 125 amino acids (1-105 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 14.1kDa.DNAL4 is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | DNAL4: Force generating protein of respiratory cilia. Produces force towards the minus ends of microtubules. Dynein has ATPase activity. Belongs to the dynein light chain family. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.1 Cellular Component: plasma membrane Molecular Function:microtubule motor activity; protein binding Biological Process: microtubule-based movement Disease: Mirror Movements 3 |
NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes an axonemal dynein light chain which functions as a component of the outer dynein arms complex. This complex acts as the molecular motor that provides the force to move cilia in an ATP-dependent manner. The encoded protein is expressed in tissues with motile cilia or flagella and may be involved in the movement of sperm flagella. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014] |
