Description

Human CHAD / Chondroadherin ELISA

CHAD (Chondroadherin) is an enzyme that helps build the matrix that sticks cells together. This matrix helps form bone, cartilage, and other tissues in the body. Despite the fact that chondroadherin is found throughout the body, individuals with a rare, inherited form of dwarfism called achondroplasia have very little or no chondroadherin. Diseases associated with CHAD include Calcific Tendinitis and Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Type Xii. Pathways associated with CHAD are Integrin-mediated Cell Adhesion. An important paralog of this gene is CHADL.
