CUB Domain Containing Protein 1, also known as CDCP1 is a transmembraneprotein which contains three extracellular CUB domains. CDCP1 is implicated incell adhesion and cell matrix association. In addition, CDCP1 takes part in theregulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versusdifferentiation through its phosphorylation. CDCP1 is also a novel marker for leukemiadiagnosis as well as for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets. Furthermore,the extracellular region of human CDCP1 shares amino acid identity sequencewith the mouse CDCP1.
CDCP1 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 646 amino acids (30-667a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 72.8kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear at approximately 70-100kDa). CDCP1 is expressed with an 8 amino acid His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Detected at highest levels in skeletal muscle and colon with lower levels in kidney, small intestine, placenta and lung. Up-regulated in a number of human tumor cell lines, as well as in colorectal cancer, breast carcinoma and lung cancer. Its expression level is correlated with the metastatic ability of carcinoma cells. May be a novel marker for leukemia diagnosis and for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets. Belongs to the tetraspanin web involved in tumor progression and metastasis. Also expressed in cells with phenotypes reminiscent of mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells. Three alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Isoform 1 is a single-pass membrane protein that may also be shed, giving rise to a soluble peptide. Isoform 3 is secreted. |
