CD79B is a 36 kDa trans membrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Heterodimers of CD79A and CD79B connect with a membrane attached immunoglobulin on the B cell surface to create the B cell antigen receptor complex (BCR). CD79A and CD79B are essential for BCR-mediated signaling and subsequently for the development and activation of B lineage cells.
CD79B Human Recombinant produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 140 amino acids (29-159a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 16.3kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear at approximately 18-28 kDa).CD79B is expressed with a 9 amino acid His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
UniProt Protein Function: | Ig-beta: Required in cooperation with CD79A for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. Enhances phosphorylation of CD79A, possibly by recruiting kinases which phosphorylate CD79A or by recruiting proteins which bind to CD79A and protect it from dephosphorylation. Defects in CD79B are the cause of agammaglobulinemia type 6 (AGM6). It is a primary immunodeficiency characterized by profoundly low or absent serum antibodies and low or absent circulating B-cells due to an early block of B-cell development. Affected individuals develop severe infections in the first years of life. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
