The Human CD161 Monoclonal Antibody (APC Conjugated) HP-3g10 (AGEL1793) from Assay Genie is a specialized reagent designed for research involving CD161, a cell surface marker associated with natural killer (NK) cells and some T cell subsets. This monoclonal antibody, conjugated with allophycocyanin (APC), offers high specificity and sensitivity for detecting CD161 in human samples.CD161, also known as NKR-P1A, is a receptor expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells that plays a role in immune cell activation and regulation. By targeting CD161 with this antibody, researchers can effectively identify and study these specific immune cell populations in various cell types and tissues. This antibody is validated for use in flow cytometry applications, providing a valuable tool for immunologists, cancer researchers, and those studying autoimmune diseases.
By accurately detecting CD161-expressing cells, researchers can gain insights into the functions and interactions of these immune cell subsets, potentially leading to advancements in understanding immune responses in health and disease.By utilizing the Human CD161 Monoclonal Antibody (APC Conjugated) HP-3g10 (AGEL1793), researchers can expand their understanding of immune cell populations and their roles in immunity, inflammation, and disease processes, ultimately contributing to the development of novel therapeutic strategies and targeted interventions.

Background:
CD161 is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein, also known as NKR-P1A, that is expressed as a 40-44 kD homodimer. It is a member of the C-type lectin superfamily. CD161 is expressed on a majority of NK cells, NKT cells, and subsets of peripheral T cells and CD3+ thymocytes. It has been reported that Th17 cells are a subpopulation of CD4+CD161+CCR6+ cells. While the biological function of CD161 is not clear, it has been suggested to serve either as a stimulatory receptor or to inhibit NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity and cytokine production. LLT-1 (lectin-like transcript-1, also named as osteoclast inhibitory lectin or CLEC2D) is the ligand of CD161.
