The HSD11B1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1619) is a valuable tool for researchers studying HSD11B1, an enzyme involved in the conversion of cortisone to cortisol. This antibody, generated in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.HSD11B1 plays a crucial role in regulating cortisol levels in the body, impacting various physiological processes such as metabolism, inflammation, and stress response. Dysregulation of HSD11B1 has been linked to conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, making it a target of interest in research aimed at understanding and treating these disorders.
By using the HSD11B1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can effectively detect and study the expression of HSD11B1 in different cell types and tissues, providing valuable insights into its function and potential therapeutic implications. This antibody is a valuable tool for studies in endocrinology, metabolism, and related fields, contributing to our understanding of HSD11B1's role in health and disease.

The protein encoded by this gene is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of the stress hormone cortisol to the inactive metabolite cortisone. In addition, the encoded protein can catalyze the reverse reaction, the conversion of cortisone to cortisol. Too much cortisol can lead to central obesity, and a particular variation in this gene has been associated with obesity and insulin resistance in children. Mutations in this gene and H6PD (hexose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (glucose 1-dehydrogenase)) are the cause of cortisone reductase deficiency. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
