Description
Anti-HOPX Antibody (CAB15537)
The Hopx Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15537) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Hopx protein, a critical regulator of cardiac development and homeostasis. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting Hopx in human samples, making it ideal for use in Western blot applications.Hopx, also known as homeodomain-only protein, has been shown to play a pivotal role in maintaining cardiac function by regulating gene expression and cellular differentiation. Dysregulation of Hopx has been implicated in various cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure and arrhythmias. By targeting the Hopx protein, researchers can gain insights into the underlying mechanisms of cardiac pathophysiology and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets for heart-related disorders.
Furthermore, the Hopx Polyclonal Antibody offers versatility in its application, allowing for the detection and analysis of Hopx in diverse cell types and experimental settings. Its reliability and reproducibility make it a valuable asset for studies in cardiovascular biology, developmental biology, and regenerative medicine. By using this antibody, researchers can advance their understanding of Hopx function and its implications for heart health and disease.

Background: | The protein encoded by this gene is a homeodomain protein that lacks certain conserved residues required for DNA binding. It was reported that choriocarcinoma cell lines and tissues failed to express this gene, which suggested the possible involvement of this gene in malignant conversion of placental trophoblasts. Studies in mice suggest that this protein may interact with serum response factor (SRF) and modulate SRF-dependent cardiac-specific gene expression and cardiac development. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene. |
UniProt Protein Function: | HOPX: Atypical homeodomain protein which does not bind DNA and is required to modulate cardiac growth and development. Acts via its interaction with SRF, thereby modulating the expression of SRF-dependent cardiac-specific genes and cardiac development. Prevents SRF-dependent transcription either by inhibiting SRF binding to DNA or by recruiting histone deacetylase (HDAC) proteins that prevent transcription by SRF. Overexpression causes cardiac hypertrophy. May act as a tumor suppressor. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Oncoprotein; DNA-binding Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q12 Cellular Component: nucleus Molecular Function:protein binding Biological Process: negative regulation of cell differentiation; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; trophectodermal cell differentiation |
