Description
HK1 Monoclonal Antibody [P4D7AT] (CPAB0134)
The HK1 Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0134) is a crucial tool for researchers studying the expression and function of the HK1 protein. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards human samples, making it suitable for various research applications, including Western blotting.HK1, also known as hexokinase-1, is a key enzyme involved in the first step of glycolysis, the metabolic pathway that converts glucose into energy. Dysregulation of HK1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and diabetes, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.
By using the HK1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze HK1 protein levels in different cell types, aiding in the investigation of its role in metabolic processes and disease development. This antibody is a valuable tool for advancing our understanding of HK1 biology and identifying potential targets for novel treatments in metabolic disorders and cancer.

Background: | Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, thus committing glucose to the glycolytic pathway. Hexokinase1 encodes a ubiquitous form of hexokinase which localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hemolytic anemia due to hexokinase deficiency. Alternative splicing of HXK1 results in five transcript variants which encode different isoforms, some of which are tissue-specific. Each isoform has a distinct N-terminus; the remainder of the protein is identical among all the isoforms. A sixth transcript variant has been described, but due to the presence of several stop codons, it is not thought to encode a protein. |
