The GUCA2B Polyclonal Antibody (PAC02765) is a valuable tool for research involving GUCA2B, a protein involved in the regulation of intestinal ion transport and fluid secretion. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the GUCA2B protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of GUCA2B in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in gastrointestinal physiology and related fields.
GUCA2B, also known as guanylin, plays a crucial role in maintaining intestinal homeostasis by regulating electrolyte and fluid balance. Dysregulation of GUCA2B expression or function has been implicated in various gastrointestinal disorders, making it a target of interest for research into conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. Understanding the mechanisms by which GUCA2B functions can provide insights into potential therapeutic interventions for these conditions.

Recombinant Mouse Guanylate cyclase activator 2B protein (22-106AA)
Endogenous activator of intestinal guanylate cyclase. It stimulates this enzyme through the same receptor binding region as the heat-stable enterotoxins. May be a potent physiological regulator of intestinal fluid and electrolyte transport. May be an autocrine/paracrine regulator of intestinal salt and water transport.

NCBI Summary:
This gene encodes a member of the guanylin family and preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate a mature protein product. The mature protein product, known as uroguanylin, is an endogenous ligand for the guanylate cyclase-C receptor and may regulate salt and water homeostasis in the intestine and kidneys. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit impaired sodium chloride excretion and elevated arterial pressure. This gene is present in a gene cluster with a related guanylin family member on chromosome 4. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]
