The GSTM2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13496) is a valuable tool for research involving the GSTM2 protein, a member of the glutathione S-transferase family involved in detoxification processes. This antibody, raised in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the GSTM2 protein, this antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze GSTM2 expression in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in toxicology, drug metabolism, and cancer research.GSTM2 plays a crucial role in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds by conjugating them with glutathione, protecting cells from damage caused by oxidative stress and environmental toxins.
Dysfunction of GSTM2 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, and respiratory diseases. Understanding the expression and function of GSTM2 is essential for developing strategies to prevent and treat these conditions, making the GSTM2 Polyclonal Antibody a valuable tool for scientists working in these fields.

Cytosolic and membrane-bound forms of glutathione S-transferase are encoded by two distinct supergene families. At present, eight distinct classes of the soluble cytoplasmic mammalian glutathione S-transferases have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta and zeta. This gene encodes a glutathione S-transferase that belongs to the mu class. The mu class of enzymes functions in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress, by conjugation with glutathione. The genes encoding the mu class of enzymes are organized in a gene cluster on chromosome 1p13.3 and are known to be highly polymorphic. These genetic variations can change an individual's susceptibility to carcinogens and toxins as well as affect the toxicity and efficacy of certain drugs.
