Description
GSR Monoclonal Antibody [PAT11D10AT] (CPAB0192)
The GSR Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0192) from Assay Genie is a valuable tool for researchers studying the glutathione reductase (GSR) protein, which plays a crucial role in antioxidant defense and maintaining cellular redox balance. This antibody is produced in rabbits and has been validated for use in Western blot applications, enabling the detection and analysis of GSR in various cell types.GSR is an essential enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of glutathione disulfide (GSSG) to glutathione (GSH), a key antioxidant in cells. Dysregulation of GSR has been implicated in oxidative stress-related diseases, such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
The GSR Polyclonal Antibody allows researchers to investigate the expression levels and localization of GSR in different experimental settings, providing valuable insights into its role in redox homeostasis and disease pathogenesis.By using the GSR Polyclonal Antibody from Assay Genie, researchers can deepen their understanding of GSR function and signaling pathways, paving the way for the development of targeted therapies for oxidative stress-related conditions.

Background: | Glutathione reductase (GSR) belongs to the class-I pyridine nucleotide-disulfide oxidoreductase family. The GSR enzyme is a homodimeric flavoprotein and has a role in maintaining glutathione (GSH) in its reduced form by catalyzing the reduction of glutathione disulfide (GSSG): GSSG + NADPH + H+ ->2GSH + NADP+. In the majority of eukaryotic cells, GSR upholds the ratio of [GSH] / [GSSG], and partakes in quite a few critical functions such as the detoxification of reactive oxygen species as well as protein and DNA biosynthesis. |
