The GRM8 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2964) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the metabotropic glutamate receptor 8 (GRM8), a protein involved in neuronal signaling and synaptic transmission. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the GRM8 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for studies in neuroscience and neurological disorders.GRM8 is known to play a critical role in modulating excitatory neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity in the brain.
Dysregulation of GRM8 has been implicated in conditions such as schizophrenia, addiction, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, researchers interested in understanding the role of GRM8 in these disorders can rely on the specificity and reliability of the CAB2964 antibody for their experiments. Unlocking the mechanisms underlying GRM8 function could lead to novel therapeutic strategies for treating these debilitating conditions.

L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. The metabotropic glutamate receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors, that have been divided into 3 groups on the basis of sequence homology, putative signal transduction mechanisms, and pharmacologic properties. Group I includes GRM1 and GRM5 and these receptors have been shown to activate phospholipase C. Group II includes GRM2 and GRM3 while Group III includes GRM4, GRM6, GRM7 and GRM8. Group II and III receptors are linked to the inhibition of the cyclic AMP cascade but differ in their agonist selectivities. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
