Description
GRIN2A/GRIN2B Antibody (PACO03978)
The GRIN2A/GRIN2B Polyclonal Antibody (PACO03978) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the GRIN2A and GRIN2B proteins, which are essential subunits of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. The antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the GRIN2A and GRIN2B proteins, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of these crucial receptor subunits in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in neurobiology and neuroscience research. The NMDA receptor, composed of different subunits including GRIN2A and GRIN2B, plays a pivotal role in excitatory neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity in the brain.
Dysfunction of NMDA receptors has been implicated in various neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, and schizophrenia. Therefore, studying the expression and function of GRIN2A and GRIN2B is essential for gaining insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and developing potential therapeutic strategies. The GRIN2A/GRIN2B Polyclonal Antibody (PACO03978) provides researchers with a reliable tool for investigating the roles of these important NMDA receptor subunits, ultimately contributing to advancements in our understanding of neurological disorders and the development of targeted treatments.

UniProt Protein Function: | NMDAR2A: a subunit of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, members of the glutamate receptor channel superfamily. Possesses high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium and is modulated by glycine. Plays a key role in synaptic plasticity, synaptogenesis, excitotoxicity, memory acquisition and learning. Mediates neuronal functions in glutamate neurotransmission. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the glutamate-gated ion channel protein family. The encoded protein is an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit. NMDA receptors are both ligand-gated and voltage-dependent, and are involved in long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent increase in the efficiency of synaptic transmission thought to underlie certain kinds of memory and learning. These receptors are permeable to calcium ions, and activation results in a calcium influx into post-synaptic cells, which results in the activation of several signaling cascades. Disruption of this gene is associated with focal epilepsy and speech disorder with or without mental retardation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
