Description
GPI Monoclonal Antibody [PAT22G2AT] (CPAB0217)
The GPI Antibody (CPAB0217) is a high-quality polyclonal antibody designed for research involving Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchoring of proteins to the cell membrane. The antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.GPI anchoring is a crucial post-translational modification that plays a key role in the localization and function of proteins on the cell surface. The GPI Antibody (CPAB0217) specifically binds to GPI-anchored proteins, enabling researchers to detect and analyze these important molecules in different cell types and tissues.
This makes the antibody ideal for studies in cell biology, signal transduction, and membrane protein trafficking.Understanding the mechanisms and functions of GPI anchoring is essential for unraveling the complexities of cell signaling and communication. The GPI Antibody (CPAB0217) provides a valuable tool for investigating the roles of GPI-anchored proteins in various physiological and pathological processes, including cancer, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders. By targeting GPI-anchored proteins, researchers can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets for treating these conditions.

Background: | Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI) is a part of the GPI family whose members encode multifunctional phosphoglucose isomerase proteins involved in energy pathways. GPI is a dimeric enzyme which catalyzes the reversible isomerization of glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate. Mammalian GPI also functions as a tumor-secreted cytokine and an angiogenic factor (AMF) which stimulates endothelial cell motility. In addition, GPI is a neurotrophic factor (Neuroleukin) for spinal and sensory neurons. GPI performs in different capacities inside and outside the cell. In the cytoplasm, GPI is involved in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, while outside the cell it acts as a neurotrophic factor for spinal and sensory neurons. Defects in the GPI gene cause the nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia and a severe enzyme deficiency can be linked to hydrops fetalis, immediate neonatal death and neurological impairment. |
