The GNMT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6608) is a valuable tool for researchers studying GNMT, a key enzyme involved in the regulation of methionine metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the GNMT protein, researchers can effectively detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in metabolism, liver diseases, and cancer research.
GNMT, also known as glycine N-methyltransferase, plays a crucial role in maintaining methionine homeostasis and methyl group balance in the body. Dysregulation of GNMT has been linked to various diseases, including liver disorders and cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic intervention. Understanding the function and regulation of GNMT is essential for developing treatments that target methionine metabolism and its associated pathways in disease states.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-295 of human GNMT (NP_061833.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (along with glycine) to S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and sarcosine. This protein is found in the cytoplasm and acts as a homotetramer. Defects in this gene are a cause of GNMT deficiency (hypermethioninemia). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Naturally occurring readthrough transcription occurs between the upstream CNPY3 (canopy FGF signaling regulator 3) gene and this gene and is represented with GeneID:107080644.
