The Glycogenin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10218) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Glycogenin-1, an essential enzyme involved in glycogen synthesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the Glycogenin-1 protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in glycobiology and metabolic research.
Glycogenin-1 is a key player in the process of glycogen formation, serving as the primer for glycogen synthesis. Understanding the function and regulation of Glycogenin-1 is crucial for advancing knowledge in metabolic disorders, diabetes, and glycogen storage diseases. By utilizing the Glycogenin-1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can explore the role of Glycogenin-1 in these disease contexts and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for treatment.

This gene encodes a member of the glycogenin family. Glycogenin is a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of a short glucose polymer from uridine diphosphate glucose in an autoglucosylation reaction. This reaction is followed by elongation and branching of the polymer, catalyzed by glycogen synthase and branching enzyme, to form glycogen. This gene is expressed in muscle and other tissues. Mutations in this gene result in glycogen storage disease XV. This gene has pseudogenes on chromosomes 1, 8 and 13 respectively. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
