The Glucokinase Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (CAB5170) is a specialized research tool designed for studying the protein glucokinase, an enzyme involved in glucose metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has been validated for use in Western blot applications and is highly reactive with human samples.Glucokinase is a key regulator of glucose levels in the body, playing a crucial role in processes such as glycogen synthesis and glucose uptake in the liver and pancreas. Dysregulation of glucokinase has been implicated in various metabolic disorders, including diabetes and obesity, making it an important target for research in the fields of endocrinology and metabolism.
By using the Glucokinase Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (CAB5170), researchers can accurately detect and analyze glucokinase levels in different tissues and cell types, allowing for a better understanding of its function and potential therapeutic implications. This antibody is a valuable tool for investigating the role of glucokinase in metabolic diseases and developing targeted treatments to address them.

This gene encodes a member of the hexokinase family of proteins. Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in most glucose metabolism pathways. In contrast to other forms of hexokinase, this enzyme is not inhibited by its product glucose-6-phosphate but remains active while glucose is abundant. The use of multiple promoters and alternative splicing of this gene result in distinct protein isoforms that exhibit tissue-specific expression in the pancreas and liver. In the pancreas, this enzyme plays a role in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, while in the liver, this enzyme is important in glucose uptake and conversion to glycogen. Mutations in this gene that alter enzyme activity have been associated with multiple types of diabetes and hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.
