Description
GH2 Antibody (PACO26969)
The GH2 Monoclonal Antibody (PACO26969) is a powerful tool for researchers studying GH2, a growth hormone receptor involved in regulating growth and metabolism. This antibody, derived from mouse cells, has high specificity for GH2 and is validated for use in a variety of applications, including immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.GH2, a key player in the endocrine system, regulates the production of growth hormone and plays a critical role in growth, development, and metabolism. Its dysregulation is associated with various disorders, including growth hormone deficiency and acromegaly.
By targeting GH2, researchers can gain valuable insights into its role in these conditions and explore potential therapeutic strategies. With its high specificity and versatility, the GH2 Monoclonal Antibody is an essential tool for researchers investigating the impact of GH2 on growth, metabolism, and related disorders. Its ability to detect GH2 in various tissues and cell types makes it a valuable asset for studies in endocrinology, physiology, and clinical research.

Background: | Plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid, uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues. |
Synonyms: | Growth hormone variant (GH-V) (Growth hormone 2) (Placenta-specific growth hormone), GH2 |
UniProt Protein Function: | GH2: Plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues. Belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. As in the case of its pituitary counterpart, growth hormone 1, the predominant isoform of this particular family member shows similar somatogenic activity, with reduced lactogenic activity. Mutations in this gene lead to placental growth hormone/lactogen deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
