Description
GH2 Antibody (PACO09462)
The GH2 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO09462) is a valuable tool for researchers studying GH2, a growth hormone protein involved in regulating growth and metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reacts strongly with human samples, making it ideal for Western blot applications. By targeting the GH2 protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze GH2 levels in various cell types, providing valuable insights into its role in physiological processes related to growth and metabolism.
GH2, a key player in growth hormone signaling pathways, is essential for normal growth and development. Dysfunction in GH2 activity has been associated with various growth disorders and metabolic abnormalities, making it a promising target for research in endocrinology and metabolic diseases. By studying the functions of GH2, researchers aim to uncover new therapeutic strategies for managing conditions related to growth and metabolism.

UniProt Protein Function: | GH2: Plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues. Belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q24.2 Cellular Component: extracellular region |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. As in the case of its pituitary counterpart, growth hormone 1, the predominant isoform of this particular family member shows similar somatogenic activity, with reduced lactogenic activity. Mutations in this gene lead to placental growth hormone/lactogen deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
