The GGT1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1776) is a vital tool for researchers studying the gamma-glutamyltransferase 1 (GGT1) enzyme, which plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism and detoxification processes. This antibody, generated in rabbits, displays high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the GGT1 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of GGT1 levels in various cell types, making it an invaluable asset for studies in biochemistry and toxicology.GGT1 is an essential enzyme involved in the breakdown and recycling of glutathione, a key antioxidant in the body.
Dysregulation of GGT1 activity has been implicated in various diseases, including liver disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Research into the function and regulation of GGT1 is crucial for understanding its role in health and disease, and for developing targeted therapies that modulate GGT1 activity for therapeutic purposes. The GGT1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1776) provides researchers with a reliable tool to further explore the intricate biology of GGT1 and its potential as a therapeutic target.

The enzyme encoded by this gene is a type I gamma-glutamyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of the glutamyl moiety of glutathione to a variety of amino acids and dipeptide acceptors. The enzyme is composed of a heavy chain and a light chain, which are derived from a single precursor protein. It is expressed in tissues involved in absorption and secretion and may contribute to the etiology of diabetes and other metabolic disorders. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified. There are a number of related genes present on chromosomes 20 and 22, and putative pseudogenes for this gene on chromosomes 2, 13, and 22.
