The Gephyrin Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8572) is a valuable tool for researchers studying gephyrin, a key protein involved in the organization of inhibitory synapses in the central nervous system. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to gephyrin, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis of the protein in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for studies in neuroscience and neurology research.
Gephyrin plays a critical role in the clustering of inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors at synapses, contributing to the regulation of neuronal signaling and synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation of gephyrin function has been implicated in neurological disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, and autism spectrum disorders. Investigating the expression and activity of gephyrin with the help of this antibody is essential for understanding the underlying mechanisms of these conditions and developing targeted therapies.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 520-769 of human Gephyrin (NP_065857.1).
This gene encodes a neuronal assembly protein that anchors inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors to the postsynaptic cytoskeleton via high affinity binding to a receptor subunit domain and tubulin dimers. In nonneuronal tissues, the encoded protein is also required for molybdenum cofactor biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with the neurological condition hyperplexia and also lead to molybdenum cofactor deficiency. Numerous alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described; however, the full-length nature of all transcript variants is not currently known.
