The GenieFluor 647 Anti-Mouse CD163 Antibody (S15049F-AGEL3398) is a specialized tool for researchers studying the CD163 protein, a key marker for certain immune cell subsets. This antibody, produced specifically for mouse samples, is optimized for various applications, including immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry.CD163 is a scavenger receptor involved in clearing hemoglobin-haptoglobin complexes and is expressed on macrophages and monocytes. Its role in modulating immune responses and inflammation makes it a valuable target for investigating diseases such as cancer, infectious diseases, and inflammatory disorders.
This high-quality antibody specifically recognizes and binds to CD163 in mouse samples, enabling precise detection and analysis in different experimental settings. By facilitating the study of CD163 expression and function, researchers can deepen their understanding of immune cell behavior and potentially uncover new therapeutic strategies.

Background:
CD163 is a member of the group B scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily, also known as GHI/61, M130, RM3/1, p155, hemoglobin-haptoglobin complex receptor, or macrophage-associated antigen. It is a 134 kD (non-reduced)/155 kD (reduced) glycoprotein primarily expressed on macrophages, Kupffer cells, monocytes, a subset of dendritic cells, and a subset of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells. CD163 binds to haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex and TWEAK, and plays a role in clearing hemoglobin and regulating cytokine production by macrophages. Membrane CD163 can be cleaved by metalloproteinases (MMP), resulting in a soluble form. Elevated serum level of sCD163 has been implicated in many kinds of inflammatory diseases.
