The GenieFluor 488 Anti-Mouse CD117 Antibody (2B8) - AGEL2181 is a powerful tool for researchers studying CD117, also known as c-kit, a protein that plays a crucial role in cell signaling and differentiation. This antibody, specifically designed for use in mouse samples, is highly selective and sensitive, allowing for precise detection and analysis in various experimental settings.CD117 is a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that is involved in the development and function of various cell types, including hematopoietic stem cells, melanocytes, and germ cells. Its dysregulation has been implicated in a range of diseases, including cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), and mastocytosis.
The ability to detect and study CD117 expression using this antibody is essential for understanding its role in both normal physiology and disease processes. With its outstanding performance in applications such as immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry, the GenieFluor 488 Anti-Mouse CD117 Antibody (2B8) - AGEL2181 is a valuable addition to any research toolkit focused on investigating the function and regulation of CD117 in biological systems.

Background:
CD117 is a 145 kD immunoglobulin superfamily member also known as c-Kit and stem cell factor receptor (SCFR). It is a transmembrane tyrosine-kinase receptor that binds the c-Kit ligand (also known as steel factor, stem cell factor, and mast cell growth factor). CD117 is expressed on hematopoietic stem cells (including multipotent hematopoietic stem cells, progenitors committed to myeloid and/or erythroid lineages, and T and B cell precursors), mast cells, and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. CD117 interaction with its ligand is critical for the development of hematopoietic stem cells.
