The GDF9 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2739) is a vital tool for researchers studying growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9), a protein involved in ovarian development and folliculogenesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in applications such as Western blotting. By specifically binding to the GDF9 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of GDF9 in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in reproductive biology and fertility research.
GDF9 is a key player in the regulation of folliculogenesis and oocyte maturation, making it a critical factor in female reproductive health. Its importance in ovarian function and fertility makes it a promising target for research into conditions such as infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome. By understanding the role of GDF9, researchers can potentially uncover new therapeutic approaches for addressing reproductive disorders and improving fertility outcomes.

This gene encodes a secreted ligand of the TGF-beta (transforming growth factor-beta) superfamily of proteins. Ligands of this family bind various TGF-beta receptors leading to recruitment and activation of SMAD family transcription factors that regulate gene expression. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate each subunit of the disulfide-linked homodimer. This protein regulates ovarian function. Reduced expression of this gene may be associated with polycystic ovary syndrome and mutations in this gene may be more common in mothers of dizygotic twins.
