The GCH1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10616) is a valuable tool for researchers studying GCH1, a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), a crucial cofactor for various enzymes including those involved in neurotransmitter synthesis. The antibody, raised in rabbits, shows high specificity for GCH1 and is validated for use in Western blot applications with human samples.GCH1 is essential for the production of BH4, which plays a critical role in the regulation of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin.
Dysregulation of GCH1 activity has been implicated in various neurological disorders, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.By using the GCH1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and analyze GCH1 protein levels in different cell types, shedding light on its role in neurotransmitter synthesis and potential implications in neurological disorders. This antibody is a valuable tool for studies in neuroscience, pharmacology, and drug development aimed at targeting the BH4 pathway for therapeutic purposes.

This gene encodes a member of the GTP cyclohydrolase family. The encoded protein is the first and rate-limiting enzyme in tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) biosynthesis, catalyzing the conversion of GTP into 7,8-dihydroneopterin triphosphate. BH4 is an essential cofactor required by aromatic amino acid hydroxylases as well as nitric oxide synthases. Mutations in this gene are associated with malignant hyperphenylalaninemia and dopa-responsive dystonia. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described; however, not all variants give rise to a functional enzyme.
