The G6PD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1537) is a valuable tool for researchers studying glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), an enzyme involved in the pentose phosphate pathway and important for maintaining cellular redox balance. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the G6PD protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of G6PD expression in various cell types.G6PD plays a crucial role in protecting cells from oxidative damage and is associated with conditions such as favism and G6PD deficiency.
Studies on G6PD are of particular interest in the fields of biochemistry, metabolism, and genetics. The G6PD Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for investigating the function and regulation of G6PD in normal physiological processes and disease states, making it a valuable asset for research in areas such as oxidative stress, metabolic disorders, and drug development.

This gene encodes glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme encoded by a housekeeping X-linked gene whose main function is to produce NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents and in reductive biosynthetic reactions. G6PD is remarkable for its genetic diversity. Many variants of G6PD, mostly produced from missense mutations, have been described with wide ranging levels of enzyme activity and associated clinical symptoms. G6PD deficiency may cause neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or severe chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
