Description
Fumarase Monoclonal Antibody [PAT3F6AT] (CPAB0205)
The Fumarase Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0205) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the enzyme fumarase, which plays a crucial role in the citric acid cycle and energy production in cells. This antibody, raised in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the fumarase protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in biochemistry, metabolism, and cancer research.Fumarase, also known as fumarate hydratase, is essential for converting fumarate to malate in the citric acid cycle, a key metabolic pathway in cells.
Dysregulation of fumarase activity has been linked to various conditions, including cancer and hereditary cancer syndromes such as hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer (HLRCC). Understanding the role of fumarase in these diseases is critical for developing targeted therapies and diagnostic tools.Overall, the Fumarase Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0205) offers researchers a reliable and specific tool for studying fumarase function and its implications in cellular metabolism and disease. Its versatility and accuracy make it a valuable asset for advancing scientific knowledge in biochemistry and related fields.

Background: | Fumarase is an enzymatic factor of Krebs cycle, which catalyzes the formation of L-malate from fumarate. Fumarase exists in both a cytosolic form and an N-terminal extended form, differing only in the translation start site used. The N-terminal extended form is aimed to the mitochondrion, where the removal of the extension results in the same form as in the cytoplasm. Fumarase is similar to a number of thermostable Class-2 fumarases and functions as a homotetramer. Mutations in the Fumarase gene causes fumarase deficiency and leads to progressive encephalopathy, cerebral atrophy and developmental delay. Fumarase enzyme is also thought to act as a tumor suppressor. Leydig cell tumors are caused by Fumarase mutations and represents one of the first reports of germline mutations in any type of adult testicular tumor. |
