The FITC Anti-Human CD48 Antibody (156-4H9) provided by AssayGenie is a high-quality monoclonal antibody specifically designed for research purposes involving CD48, a cell surface molecule with important implications in immune responses and cell-cell interactions. This antibody, validated for its reactivity with human samples, is ideal for various applications including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry.CD48, also known as MEM-102, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein that plays a crucial role in immune regulation and modulation of immune responses. It is involved in the activation and function of various immune cells, including T cells, B cells, and natural killer cells.
Understanding the expression and function of CD48 is essential for unraveling its role in immune signaling pathways and its potential as a therapeutic target in conditions such as autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, and cancer. With its high specificity and sensitivity, the FITC Anti-Human CD48 Antibody (156-4H9) from AssayGenie enables accurate detection and analysis of CD48 in various experimental settings. Researchers in the fields of immunology, oncology, and cell biology can rely on this antibody to further their understanding of CD48-mediated immune responses and its involvement in human health and disease.
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by flow cytometric analysis. The amount of the reagent is suggested to be used 5 µL of antibody per test (million cells in 100 µL staining volume or per 100 µL of whole blood). Please check your vial before the experiment. Since applications vary, the appropriate dilutions must be determined for individual use.

Background:
CD48 is a 40-47 kD GPI-anchored membrane protein, also known as Blast-1 and HuLy-m3. It is a member of the CD2 family that contains 2 IgSF domains and is widely expressed on both resting and activated hematopoietic cells with the exception of granulocytes, platelets, and erythrocytes. CD48 binds to CD2 at a considerably (>100-fold) lower affinity than CD58. It is thought to contribute to T cell activation. The cytoplasmic tail of CD48 has been shown to bind to the kinases Lck and Fyn.
