The FITC Anti-Human CD16 Antibody (3G8) offered by Assay Genie is a valuable tool for researchers studying CD16, a significant cell surface molecule involved in immune responses. This monoclonal antibody, specifically designed to target human CD16, is ideal for use in flow cytometry and immunofluorescence applications.CD16, also known as Fc gamma receptor III (FcγRIII), plays a crucial role in antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and phagocytosis. By binding to CD16, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of CD16 expression in various cell types, aiding in the understanding of immune cell function and interactions.
With its high specificity and sensitivity, the FITC Anti-Human CD16 Antibody (3G8) is a reliable tool for researchers exploring immune cell signaling pathways, cell-mediated immune responses, and immunotherapy development. Its application extends to studies in immunology, oncology, and infectious diseases, providing valuable insights into the role of CD16 in immune regulation and disease pathogenesis.

Background:
CD16 is a 60 kD highly glycosylated protein. It is a member of the Ig superfamily and is also known as B7-1, B7, and Ly-53. CD16 is constitutively expressed on dendritic cells and monocytes/macrophages, and inducibly expressed on activated B and T cells. The ligation of CD28 on T cells with CD16 and CD86 (B7-2) on antigen presenting cells (such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells) elicits co-stimulation of T cells resulting in enhanced cell activation, proliferation, and cytokine production. CD16 appears to be expressed later in the immune response than CD86. CD16 can also bind to CD152, also known as CTLA-4, to deliver an inhibitory signal to T cells.
