Fibrosis Biomarker Assays
Fibrosis
Fibrosis, or fibrotic scarring, is a form of misguided pathological wound healing in which connective tissue replaces parenchymal tissue following repetitive injury or chronic inflammation. It involves a range of dysregulated signaling pathways across multiple cell types such as fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, epithelial cells and macrophages. If left unchecked, whole-scale tissue remodeling and scarring occurs. It follows accumulation of Extracellular Matric (ECM) components, such as collagen. Ultimately, it results in the thickening of the affected tissue, interfering with normal tissue function. It is commonly seen in tissues particularly susceptible to damage and inflammation such as the liver, lungs, heart and brain.
Assay Genie have developed a range of assays to detect fibrosis biomarkers, and changes in signaling associated with fibrosis. Below are a range of Human ELISA for popular biomarkers. Contact us for different species options or for activity assays and antibodies.

Cell Signaling in Fibrosis
It is important to understand the molecular basis of the signaling pathways contributing to the activation and maintenance of myofibroblasts, the key cells in the pathophysiology of fibrotic disorders. At Assay Genie, we have launched Cell-based ELISA Kits & Transcription Factor Activity Assays for key the cell-signaling pathways mentioned below, related to the pathophysiology of fibrosis.
Several signal transduction pathways have been linked to the pathophysiology of fibrosis such as:
- TGF-β
- WNT
- YAP/TAZ
- MAPK/ERK
- PI3K/AKT
Fibrosis Transcription Factor Activity Assays
At Assay Genie, we have launched Transcription Factor Activity Assays to detect the activation of key transcription factors in fibrosis.
