Description
FGF5 Antibody (PACO01903)
The FGF5 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO01903) is an essential tool for research involving FGF5, a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family that plays a key role in cell proliferation and differentiation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits strong reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the FGF5 protein, this antibody facilitates the detection and analysis of FGF5 in various cell types, making it well-suited for investigations in cell biology and developmental biology.
FGF5 is known to be involved in hair growth regulation and stem cell maintenance, making it a target of interest in studies related to hair disorders and regenerative medicine. Its role in cell signaling pathways and tissue development also positions it as a potential therapeutic target for conditions like cancer and wound healing. The FGF5 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable resource for researchers seeking to elucidate the functions and mechanisms of FGF5 in health and disease.

UniProt Protein Function: | FGF5: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Required for normal regulation of the hair growth cycle. Functions as an inhibitor of hair elongation by promoting progression from anagen, the growth phase of the hair follicle, into catagen the apoptosis-induced regression phase. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This gene was identified as an oncogene, which confers transforming potential when transfected into mammalian cells. Targeted disruption of the homolog of this gene in mouse resulted in the phenotype of abnormally long hair, which suggested a function as an inhibitor of hair elongation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
