The Ferritin Light Chain Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers studying ferritin, a key protein involved in iron storage and homeostasis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the ferritin light chain protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for investigations in fields such as metabolism, iron biology, and disease pathology.Ferritin is a critical player in iron metabolism, serving as a storage protein for excess iron and helping to prevent the damaging effects of iron overload.
Dysregulation of ferritin expression and function has been implicated in various diseases, including iron overload disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, and certain types of cancer. By studying ferritin using this polyclonal antibody, researchers can gain insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially uncover novel therapeutic targets for intervention.

This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of 24 subunits of the heavy and light ferritin chains. Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect the rates of iron uptake and release in different tissues. A major function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome. This gene has multiple pseudogenes.
