The FBXO32 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB11439) is a valuable tool for researchers studying FBXO32, a protein involved in the regulation of muscle atrophy and the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the FBXO32 protein, this antibody allows for precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for studies in muscle biology and related fields.
FBXO32, also known as atrogin-1, plays a crucial role in regulating protein degradation in muscle cells, particularly during periods of muscle wasting. Its involvement in the degradation of key proteins involved in muscle maintenance makes it a promising target for research into conditions such as muscle atrophy, cachexia, and other muscle-related disorders. Understanding the function of FBXO32 is essential for developing strategies to prevent or reverse muscle loss in various disease contexts.

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family which is characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. The F-box proteins constitute one of the four subunits of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex called SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), which function in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. The F-box proteins are divided into 3 classes: Fbws containing WD-40 domains, Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats, and Fbxs containing either different protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the Fbxs class and contains an F-box domain. This protein is highly expressed during muscle atrophy, whereas mice deficient in this gene were found to be resistant to atrophy. This protein is thus a potential drug target for the treatment of muscle atrophy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
