The FADS3 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3947) is a valuable tool for researchers studying FADS3, a key enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism. Produced in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the FADS3 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, particularly useful for studies in metabolism and lipid biology.FADS3 plays a critical role in the desaturation of fatty acids, making it a crucial enzyme in the biosynthesis of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Dysregulation of FADS3 has been linked to various metabolic disorders, making it a promising target for research in obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Understanding the function of FADS3 is essential for developing interventions that target fatty acid metabolism and its implications in human health.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-130 of human FADS3 (NP_068373.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fatty acid desaturase (FADS) gene family. Desaturase enzymes regulate unsaturation of fatty acids through the introduction of double bonds between defined carbons of the fatty acyl chain. FADS family members are considered fusion products composed of an N-terminal cytochrome b5-like domain and a C-terminal multiple membrane-spanning desaturase portion, both of which are characterized by conserved histidine motifs. This gene is clustered with family members FADS1 and FADS2 at 11q12-q13.1; this cluster is thought to have arisen evolutionarily from gene duplication based on its similar exon/intron organization.
