The FADS2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10006) is a valuable tool for researchers studying FADS2, an essential enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting FADS2 in human samples through Western blotting techniques.FADS2, also known as fatty acid desaturase 2, plays a key role in the conversion of linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid into longer-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. Dysregulation of FADS2 activity has been implicated in various metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory conditions, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions and drug development.
By utilizing the FADS2 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the expression levels and functions of FADS2 in different cell types and tissues, advancing our understanding of fatty acid metabolism and its impact on human health. This antibody is an essential tool for studies in biochemistry, nutrition, and metabolic diseases, providing researchers with reliable and accurate results for their experimental investigations.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fatty acid desaturase (FADS) gene family. Desaturase enzymes regulate unsaturation of fatty acids through the introduction of double bonds between defined carbons of the fatty acyl chain. FADS family members are considered fusion products composed of an N-terminal cytochrome b5-like domain and a C-terminal multiple membrane-spanning desaturase portion, both of which are characterized by conserved histidine motifs. This gene is clustered with family members at 11q12-q13.1; this cluster is thought to have arisen evolutionarily from gene duplication based on its similar exon/intron organization. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
