The Anti-FADS1 Antibody (CAB0178) is a high-quality polyclonal antibody designed for research involving FADS1, a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly reactive with human, mouse, and rat samples and is validated for use in various applications such as Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.FADS1 plays a crucial role in the metabolism of essential fatty acids, impacting various physiological processes including inflammation, lipid metabolism, and immune response. Dysregulation of FADS1 has been linked to a variety of health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, and inflammatory conditions.
Understanding the expression and activity of FADS1 is important for investigating its role in these diseases and developing potential therapeutic interventions. With its high specificity and sensitivity, the Anti-FADS1 Antibody (CAB0178) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the functions and mechanisms of FADS1 in health and disease. Its ability to detect FADS1 in different species and sample types makes it versatile for a wide range of research applications in the fields of biochemistry, nutrition, and molecular biology.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fatty acid desaturase (FADS) gene family. Desaturase enzymes regulate unsaturation of fatty acids through the introduction of double bonds between defined carbons of the fatty acyl chain. FADS family members are considered fusion products composed of an N-terminal cytochrome b5-like domain and a C-terminal multiple membrane-spanning desaturase portion, both of which are characterized by conserved histidine motifs. This gene is clustered with family members FADS1 and FADS2 at 11q12-q13.1; this cluster is thought to have arisen evolutionarily from gene duplication based on its similar exon/intron organization.
