The ERCC8 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6884) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the ERCC8 protein, a critical component of nucleotide excision repair in cells. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By targeting the ERCC8 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis of DNA repair mechanisms, making it ideal for studies in genetics, cancer biology, and molecular biology.
ERCC8, also known as CSA protein, is essential for maintaining genomic integrity by repairing DNA damage caused by environmental factors such as UV radiation. Mutations in the ERCC8 gene have been linked to Cockayne syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by premature aging and increased sensitivity to sunlight. Understanding the function of ERCC8 is crucial for advancing our knowledge of DNA repair pathways and developing targeted therapies for diseases associated with DNA damage.
Product Name:
ERCC8 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
SKU:
CAB6884
Size:
20uL, 100uL
Isotype:
IgG
Host Species:
Rabbit
Reactivity:
Mouse
Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 300 to the C-terminus of human ERCC8 (NP_000073.1).
This gene encodes a WD repeat protein, which interacts with Cockayne syndrome type B (CSB) protein and with p44 protein, a subunit of the RNA polymerase II transcription factor IIH. Mutations in this gene have been identified in patients with hereditary disease Cockayne syndrome (CS). CS cells are abnormally sensitive to ultraviolet radiation and are defective in the repair of transcriptionally active genes. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
