The ELOVL5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16567) is designed for research involving ELOVL5, a key enzyme involved in the elongation of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. The antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. It binds specifically to the ELOVL5 protein, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent tool for studies in lipid metabolism and related research areas.ELOVL5 plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are essential components of cell membranes and play important roles in various physiological processes, including brain function and inflammation.
Dysregulation of ELOVL5 has been linked to several diseases, such as metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, making it a promising target for drug development and therapeutic interventions. The ELOVL5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16567) provides researchers with a reliable tool to investigate the expression and function of ELOVL5 in different biological systems, offering valuable insights into its role in health and disease. By gaining a better understanding of ELOVL5, researchers can potentially develop new treatments and interventions to target conditions associated with dysregulated fatty acid metabolism.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 247-326 of human ELOVL5 (NP_001229757.1).
This gene belongs to the ELO family. It is highly expressed in the adrenal gland and testis, and encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. This protein is involved in the elongation of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Mutations in this gene have been associated with spinocerebellar ataxia-38 (SCA38). Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
